Visiting Juvylyn Day 1

On the first morning of my visit with Juvylyn and her husband, I woke up to the smell of what she called oatmeal, and what I called cooked grain. I got up off my matt on the floor and sat at the table. The sun was just coming up and it was shining and glistening on the lake. "We have a big day ahead of us!" Juvylyn smiled proudly. "Thanks to the help you gave us, we can start rebuilding my fishing boat!" We walked down to the lake, and I saw her fishing boat. It was tied to the dock, but it was very damaged. All the wood was coming off on the sides, and one more day and it would have come off the bottom too! We set to work. I helped her haul the new wood over to the boat. She brought it on shore and then she started placing new bamboo sticks on the boat. It was hard work. At the end of the day, we went back to her tiny home on the edge of the lake as the sun went down. I had never been so happy to see "oatmeal".
